On Saturday 22 August, the Bach Museum in Leipzig is hosting its annual summer festival from 10 am to 6 pm. There’ll be a varied programme for the whole family, featuring guided tours, hands-on activities and the Papperlapapp puppet theatre. Admission is free.
Summer, sunshine and the holidays wouldn’t be complete without the annual summer festival at the Bach Museum. Throughout the day, visitors of all ages can get creative and design their own Bach wig on a stick. Families with children aged 5 and over are invited to child-friendly guided tours of the musical and interactive Bach Museum at 10.30 am and 4.30 pm. At 2 pm, there will also be a guided tour of the current special exhibition ‘Jewish Life and the Bach Family of Musicians’.
The highlight of the afternoon is the puppet show ‘Hühnerei und Entengrütze’ at 3.00 pm. A little chick and a little duckling want to play together – even though their mums have forbidden them to do so. Transcending all boundaries, the two strike up a friendship and embark on adventures together. Puppeteer Meike Kreim from Leipzig’s PAPPERLAPAPP Puppet Theatre & Storytelling Theatre will tell the story in a performance lasting around 40 minutes, suitable for children aged 3 and over.
The Bach Museum in Leipzig is located at Thomaskirchhof 15/16, directly opposite St Thomas’ Church. Admission is free on 22 August 2026.
