Training in Haunting for a Fragile World: Salon Similde opens the exhibition ‘Haunted Origins’

On Thursday 27 August at 8 pm, the opening of the exhibition ‘Haunted Origins’ will take place at Salon Similde (Connewitz, Simildenstraße 9), featuring works by Sylvia Kölling and Dorit Löffler – and a shamanic intervention by Kurt Mondaugen. The exhibition by the two artists, Sylvia Kölling and Dorit Löffler, confronts us with hauntings: ghost ships drifting towards us. Disturbing birds staring at us.

Living spaces in the ghostly style of some post-war era, a longing for an idyllic world of yesteryear, into which nature suddenly bursts, overwhelming and two-faced: threatening and redemptive at the same time. Everywhere: trickster figures, blind mirrors, kaolin films over the interiors, tangible cracks and threads welling up from the paper’s surface and groping towards the viewers in the room…

What is happening here merely on paper? What is happening in reality? With these questions, the exhibition drags us through the deepest possible present. What Sylvia Kölling
